Physicians & Surgeons - Underwriting Information

At Florida Doctors, we practice qualitative; not quantitative underwriting.

Our four senior underwriters average over 22 years each working with and evaluating specifically Florida physicians. They recognize that every physician is unique. Each applicant is evaluated based on their attributes (quality) in order to properly evaluate the risk presented. In addition to specialty, geographic location of practice, policy limits and claims-made maturity, other attributes considered are:

  • Degrees and/or Licenses held
  • Certification by recognized medical boards
  • Number of years in practice
  • Practice Continuity (Same community/location)
  • Claims History
  • Membership in medical / specialty societies
  • Scope of practice (procedures/services
  • Type of Practice (individual vs. member of a group)
  • Associates

A written narrative of your practice environment or explanation of unusual circumstances or events can often make a positive difference in the initial underwriting impression.

Our underwriters are responsive to your needs and will work with you to provide solutions to meet the changing professional liability insurance needs of medical practices today.
